Celebration of Mother Earth Scheduled
“A Celebration of Mother
Earth” next week will include a preview screening of a new film, The
Last Stand: Heroes at Ballona Wetlands, narrated by actor and activist
Ed Asner, with music by Joni Mitchell.
Producer Sheila Laffey has combined a synopsis of her earlier film
with footage of recent excavation of Native American graves, the
acquisition of over 500 acres and coverage of continuing actions at
the Wetlands.
The previous film won a Cine Golden Eagle award.
In addition, Larry Hansen and Carol Marie will sign copies of their
new book, Global Warning: A Native Gaian Prophesy, film maker Victor
Mudd, an Oscar winner, will show clips from Broken Rainbow, and film
maker Rhonda Robles will show clips from Ancestor Walk.
The fundraiser will be held at the Santa Monica Windjammers Club, at
the end of Mindanao Way, on the water in Marina del Rey, on Thursday,
June 10. The no host bar will open at 6 p.m. A buffet dinner will be
served at 7 p.m. The program will begin at 8 p.m.
