Center Stage Blind Boys of
Alabama, Aaron Neville, Mavis Staples, John Medeski

at UCLA’s Royce Hall, 12/13, 8pm. Southern a cappella
gospel legends perform music from their latest album Go Tell it on the
Mountain. Since forming in 1939 at The Alabama Institute for The Negro
Blind, founding members Clarence Fountain, Jimmy Carter and George
Scott have been bringing rockin’ gospel music to the mainstream, and
have recently broadened their reach with funk infused covers of
secular artists like Prince, Curtis Mayfield and Stevie Wonder. With
such an all-star lineup of special guests, this should be quite a
show. |
