GOING UP

Now under construction, Santa Monica’s Public Safety
Building will reach its full height of 75 feet and top out early this
summer. In mid-summer, construction of the new Olympic Drive, south of
City Hall, will begin. At that time, the parking lot between City Hall
and L.A. County Courthouse will be closed and Main Street will be
restriped to permit diagonal parking. City officials now estimate that
the new building will be completed in the spring of 2003.
