Pair of Academy Benefits On Tap

A, Mason, 1511 Montana Avenue, will donate a portion of its sales on Saturday, April 20, to the American Academy for Dance and the Kindred Arts, because, Mason said, “We know firsthand how important it is to encourage young artists. We have been showcasing some of the world’s best emerging designers for the last four years. Artists who just happened to have found their ‘voice’ through fashion design.”
And recording, stage, film and television artists, Renn Woods and ensemble, will perform at a benefit concert for the Academy and its Dance for All programs in Santa Monica Public Schools on Friday, April 26, at 7:30 p.m.
The family-oriented concert will feature music from both “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Wiz.”
There is ample parking in the Santa Monica Studios lot at 3019 Olympic Boulevard. Tickets are $35 for adults and $15 per child. Phone (310) 656-6899 for tickets.
The Academy is a non-profit artistic/educational organization funded in part by the Ahmanson Foundation, the Santa Monica Office of Community and Cultural Affairs, the Weingart Foundation, the Los Angeles County Arts Commission and the Rigler Deutsch Foundation. It recently announced that in order to continue, it must find additional sources of revenue.
