Concrete Proof

The Bourget Brothers’ cement plant is one of the last
vestiges of Santa Monica’s industrial past. As sleek new office
buildings rise nearby, it continues to manufacture a basic building
material.
In 1947, brothers Henry, Lawrence and Leo Bourget bought a concrete
manufacturing plant in Santa Monica. Over the years, they have added
more and more products – including natural building stone, plumbing,
masonry, landscaping supplies, tools and hardware. and have continued
to grow. Earlier this month, one of the Bourget brothers, Lawrence,
74, died. All of the other brothers remain active.
