Library Exhibit Features Illustrators

"America’s Greatest Illustrators Celebrated With Stamps," is on view through July in the Main Library’s Art Gallery, second floor, 1343 Sixth Street.
Featured in the display are twenty of American’s greatest illustrators who have been honored by the U.S. Postal Service with a recent issuance of stamps spotlighting their works. The featured works were recommended to the Postal Service by a panel of experts convened by the Society of Illustrators.
Among the honored illustrators are Maxfield Parrish, Norman Rockwell, Frederic Remington, James Montgomery Flag and Rockwell Kent. All of the illustrators featured on the stamps are members of the Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame.
The stamp designs in the exhibit are details of illustrations originally made for a variety of media, including books, advertisements, magazine covers, murals, and posters.
The display was provided to the Library by the Santa Monica Post Office.
