Reflecting the Concerns of the Community  February 6 - 12, 2002 Vol. 3, Issue 34

9/11 Art Works by Children Go on View Saturday

An exhibition of artworks made by children who were inspired by the September 11 attacks, “Healing Arts,” will open on Sunday, February 10, in the Community Focus Gallery on third level (395) of Santa Monica Place
The show includes paintings, drawings, collages and poetry, and the works convey the myriad reactions of children – fears, hopes and insights — to the attacks.
On opening day, the young artists will be present for a 2:30 p.m. fund-raiser to benefit the non-profit organization, The Center for the Advancement of Non-Violence. Admission will be by donation.
Participating schools are Crossroads and New Roads Schools, Santa Monica; Brentwood School; Santa Susana, Chatsworth; Culver City; Kadima Academy, Agoura; Grandview Elementary; and The Oaks School, Hollywood.
The exhibit will be on view until March 25.
