Samohi Students To Appear In Benefit Concert
Donations and gifts are needed
Students in the Choral Studies Department at Santa
Monica High School are currently spending their lunch breaks in
rehearsal for the department’s annual fundraiser, Café Samo, a cabaret
show.
Café Samo will debut on Friday, February 8, in the Humanities
building on the Samohi campus, with a reprise on Friday, February 15.
A silent auction and raffle are also scheduled, with proceeds going to
the choral program.
Among the student groups who will perform are the Testostertones,
Valhalla and the Gospel Choir, all of whom have created, arranged and
developed their own their own routines.
Under the direction of Christopher Rhodes, the Choral Studies
program at Samohi is one of the most accomplished in the region,
winning awards and competing regularly in state and national
tournaments.
With over 200 students now enrolled in the program, more funds are
needed to maintain its rigorous standards.
Donations of goods and services for the auction are now being
solicited, as are cash donations. Art works, gift certificates,
products, restaurant dinners, travel packages, sports, theatre and
concert tickets are among the items auction organizers are seeking.
All proceeds will be used to fund the program and all donations and
gifts will be acknowledged in the evening’s program, the SAMOHI
newspaper and the PTSA newsletter, and all are tax deductible. Checks
should be made payable to Samohi Chorus.
As the program will be printed next week, donations and gifts
should be made before February 7. To make a donation or contribution,
contact Donna Block by phone (310) 413-2093 or (310) 829-4692, fax:

Or donations may be mailed directly to the SAMOHI Choir at Santa
Monica High School, 601 Pico Boulevard, Santa Monica 90405. |
