Readings,
Performances

Steve Abee at Skylight Books 2/3. Sunday, February 3rd @ 7pm. He looks like he walked out of blue collar film noir, complete with industrial gas station issue navy shirt and greased up hair. His style is humble, understated, and profoundly masculine. He swaggers through littered streets of lost heroes — Kerouac, Fante, Bukowski — collecting random thoughts and snapshots of Los Angeles, then putting them in a frame for all of us to see. Tonight he reads from his latest effort: The Bus: Cosmic Ejaculations of the Daily Mind in Transit. 1818 N. Vermont Ave, Los Feliz at (323)660-1175
Frank Wu at The Midnight Special Bookstore, 2/3. The author will read and discuss his book, YELLOW: Race in America Beyond Black & White, which describes “the alienation faced by Asian Americans tackling key milestones in history, such as the 1940’s internment camps and the 1992 LA riots, as well as surprising statistics about the continuing prevalence of anti-Asian sentiment.”
UN-CAB LAB: Beth Lapides, Greg Miller at Skirball Cultural Center 2/2, 1-4pm. A one-day intensive performance workshop which will let the public perform and work with Un-Cabaret creator Beth Lapides & producer Greg Miller. Sign Up by calling: (310) 440-4667 to sign up. More info: Uncabaret.com
