Saint Monica High School Women’s Soccer team recorded its third
consecutive Camino Real League shutout with a 6-0 road win over
Bell-Jeff High, followed by its fourth consecutive league victory with
a 4-1 home victory over Saint Mathias High.
At Bell-Jeff on Tuesday, Priscilla Padilla and Shahrzad Sadrpour
had two goals each. Diane Hubbell and Hortencia Lechuga recorded the
other scores. Courtney Hubbell had an assist. St. Monica goalie
Veronica Alfieri was quite bored having to make only one save, as the
Mariner defense led by Ivori Harewood, Anne Mureau, and Britini Wylan
kept the ball on enemy territory for most of the match. The Mariners
had 27 shots on goal, 20 in the first half alone.
Following a day off from competition, the Lady Mariners hosted
Saint Mathias High School in their fourth league game. Alfieri made
three saves and helped keep Saint Mathias away from the goal with
booming punts. Lechuga scored two goals, Courtney Hubbell had one goal
and two assists, and Sadrpour had the remaining goal.
Saint Monica’s lady kickers have scored 23 goals and had one against in
their first four league contests. The Mariners return to action on
Friday, January 25, versus Mary Star High School on Saint Monica’s
home field, Memorial Park. Kickoff will be at 3:15 p.m. |
