The Game of War

Christine Melissa Jones
Junior, Santa Monica High School
Special to the Mirror

My mind is on fire
My body askew
Yesterday I played
Yesterday I knew….

All I can say now
From my deepest of thoughts
We’ll miss Carolyn Beug
We’ll miss her a lot
But now as we see
We feel pain beyond belief
The search for survivors
There is no relief

We come together for support
Though the Taliban tries
They want us apart
But our spirit never dies

And now all of our vengeance
Has led us this far
We’re bombing Afghanistan
…We are playing the game of war…
