Group Advises People To “Walk Safe”

The Walkable Westside Partnership for Pedestrian Safety and the Automobile Club of Southern California urge pedestrians to “walk safe” and drivers to “watch for walkers.”
“In the spirit of the season we are asking pedestrians and drivers to watch out for each other,” City of Santa Monica spokesperson Judy Rambeau said. “Don’t be a moving violator either on foot or behind the wheel.”
To avoid accidents during the holiday season pay attention, obey all traffic laws — as a pedestrian, cross only at intersections, as a driver, always yield to pedestrians; and assume nothing –- i.e., crosswalks do not automatically insure pedestrian safety — and always watch out for children.
