Rock, Pop
The Fall, Flash Express at The Knitting Factory 11/15. The
Fall, one of the original punk art-noise bands from the early days of
punk rock never got the credit they deserve. Tonight they play a rare
show. Don’t miss it, or you may have to wait another 20 years…
Beachwood Sparks, Love As Laughter, The Glands at The
Troubadour 11/15. An Alice in Wonderland world smelling of sweet
Beachboy harmonies, pickled by Mad Hatters of the Velvet Underground,
all wrapped in a narcotic gauze of psychedelia.
Mecca Normal, Jucifer, Rizzo, Theory of Ruin at The Silverlake
Lounge 11/15. Mecca Normal has been influencing grrrl bands in the
Northwest since before Bikini Kill, and is a force to be reckoned
with. Get there early if you don’t want to listen from the curb.
Mr. Scruff at Sugar 11/15. Cool, hep and luscious, this cat is
one smooth ride. Don’t miss this hot, local show. (814 Broadway Ave)
Slowrider, Ghost Team, B-Boy, Genre at Mr. T’s Bowl, 11/16.
Check out “the other bowl,” Mr. T’s. Slowrider, LA Weekly’s “best new
artist,” a “Latin boogaloo, hip-hop, soul-jazz, galactic funk,”
outfit, teams up with Ghost Town, a “bobbing hip hop bounce…live funky
beats,” reminiscent of the Washington DC Go-Go, along with B-Boy
Genre. 323.969.4616 info line (mrtsbowl.com)
