Highlights

Rock, Pop

Lee “Scratch” Perry, Mad Professor, Live Human at The El Rey 11/8. The pantheon of champion Dub-wise knob twiddlers and sound tweakers is short and sweet, Dennis “Bluebeard” Bovell, Mickey Dread “at the Controls,” Adrian “On-U-Sound” Sherman and this show’s two performers Lee “Scratch” Perry and The Mad Professor.
KCRW’s Sounds Eclectic Evening, hosted by Nic Harcourt, featuring Shelby Lynne, Ozomatli, Elliot Smith, Pete Yorn, Sparklehorse & DJ Shadow at the Wiltern, 11/9, 8pm. Benefit for KCRW, includes an after party. For more info, go to kcrw.com
The Fall at The Knitting Factory. 11/14. Just as the Kinks never got the props they deserved of the U.K. Invasion bands, the Fall remain relatively unknown for their punk rock art noise innovations, while the Sex Pistols and the Clash are notorious. (also on 11/15)

Jazz, Classical

Pharoah Sanders at The Catalina Bar & Grill 11/8. Legendary sax player continues to keep be bop alive and well with his eccentric, mystical vision – not as freaky as Sun Ra, but more ethereal than the Bird…
Denny Zeitlin, Buster Williams, Matt Wilson at The Jazz Bakery 11/8
Buddy Collette Quintet, Sweet Baby J’ai at The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, 11/8, 7pm.
