Highlights

Rock, Pop

The Donnas, The Kicks, The Eyeliners at The Palace 9/13. Not just any desperate-teenage-high-school-rocker chicks from Palo Alto, The Donnas took the gritty melodic punk rock of the Ramones and turned it up a notch with bratty, glammy kitsch, spitfire fury and full speed ahead rocker grrrrl grit.
Billy Idol at The Roxy 9/13 - 15. Blowhard that he is, he does have a certain striving - to be Elvis, rocker, punker, metl’er. Gotta give him credit too for Gen X roots and faux punk dance songs in the 80’s that caught the girls’ attention…

Jazz, Classical

Dave Brubeck at Smothers Theatre (Pepperdine University). 9/16, 3pm. Jazz titan best known for his ultra-cool “Take Five,” is joined by Michael Moore on bass, Bill Smith on clarinet, and Randy Jones, on drums. 24255 Pacific Coast Hwy., Malibu.
Jane Bunnett, Spirits of Heaven at The Jazz Bakery 9/13
