Three local high schools will be sending their teams to the boys CIF Tennis playoffs.
Samohi finished its season in third place of the ultra competitive Bay League, with senior Brent Besson taking home the Bay League’s singles title.
The Vikings will compete in the CIF division I playoffs. Their first opponent will be Lynwood High School of the San Gabriel Valley League.
Brentwood School finished a strong season with a record of 14-1, undefeated at 8-0 in the Delphic League. Among their impressive victories was a 10-8 victory over Peninsula High School.
Brentwood will compete in CIF division V and open the playoffs against Windward of the Liberty league. The respective teams’ junior varsity teams competed early in the season with Brentwood winning the matches 11-7. Although the varsity teams have not previously competed, Windward has already played Crossroads School to provide a cross-reference for their abilities. In that match, Crossroads won 11-7. A good sign for Brentwood, as they have already defeated Crossroads twice this year.
Crossroads School, also of the Delphic League, finished their regular season with a record of 8-6-1 and a 5-3-1 record in league play. The Roadrunners enter the CIF tournament as the third place team and will play the Polytechnic School of Pasadena. Poly is the Prep League champion.
Should any of these schools advance, their second round matches will be held on Thursday, May 17.
