Former Director Of Jet Propulsion Lab To Lecture Here
On May 1, Dr. Edward Stone retired as Director of the legendary Jet Propulsion Lab. On Tuesday, May 23, he’ll give a lecture at the Museum of Flying in Santa Monica.
Now Vice President and David Morrisroe Professor of Physics at the California Institute of Technology, Stone was a principal investigator on nine NASA spacecraft missions and co-investigator on five other NASA missions. In addition, he has served as the project scientist for the Voyager Mission since 1972, taking part in both hardware development and mission operations.
Among his awards are the National Medal of Science, the American Philosophical Society Magellanic Award, the COSPAR Award for Outstanding Contributions to Space Science and a number of NASA Medals. In 1996, an asteroid was named after him.
