Raising Readers —A Literacy Festival To Be Held Sat.

   Connections for Children will celebrate its 25th anniversary by holding “Raising Readers — A Literacy Festival” on Saturday, April 21. 
   The festival will feature entertainers, storytellers theater groups and musicians who will focus on the joys of reading. In addition, local early childhood programs will offer children the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities which stress literacy. Connections for Children will cut a cake to celebrate 25 years of support for quality child care and early education.
   On the program are the Dan Crow Trio, musician and children’s author Jose-Luis Orozco, the L.A. Children’s Museum Readers’ Theater, Clifford the Big Red Dog, and Franklin the Turtle. 
   The festival is being sponsored by Santa Monica College in conjunction with the Southern California Association for the Education of Young Children/North Bay Chapter.
   Connections for Children is a non-profit, child care resource and referral agency which serves the Westside and South Bay communities. It offers assistance to parents and educators seeing information, referrals and training. 
   The festival, which is free and open to the public, will be held from noon to 4 p.m. at the Clock Tower quad, Santa Monica College, 1900 Pico Boulevard, Santa Monica. Free parking is available. For additional information, phone (310) 452-3325.
