Petco Raises $$$ For Venice Animal Allies
The Petco Foundation had raised a record $1.3 million dollars during its “Tree of Hope” campaign. This is the second year of the campaign, during which customers were given the opportunity to make a $1, $5, $10 or $15 contribution each time they shopped.
Local Petco customers, vendors and store sales associates raised $2,007 for Venice Animal Allies (VAA). VAA is an animal rescue and adoption group which removes cats and dogs from animal shelters the day they are going to be euthanized, pays for veterinary check-ups, photographs the animals, makes colorful flyers, takes out ads, and pays for boarding until a loving home is found for each one.
“We are very grateful to the wonderful people at Petco and the Petco Foundation,” says Melya Kaplan, VAA Executive Director. “This donation will allow us to save more lives this year, bringing joy to more rescued cats and dogs and to the lucky families who will adopt them.”
The Petco Foundation was established in February 1999 to support community organizations and efforts that enhance the lives of companion animals while strengthening the bond between people and pets. Since its inception, the Foundation has raised more than $3.6 million through a variety of fundraising efforts.
