Writers To Celebrate Women's History Month
In celebration of Women's History Month, four local authors will read selections from their work at the Santa Monica Public Library on Sunday, March 4 at 2 p.m.
The Santa Monica Commission on the Status of Women is sponsoring the event, which will feature readings by Lindsay Haley, author of "Urban Latino Cultures/La Vida Latina el L.A."; Dr. Susan Phillips, author of "Wall Bangin': Graffiti and Gangs in L.A."; Dr. Kathleen Sheldon, author of "Courtyards, Markets, City Streets: Urban Women in Africa"; and Dr. Dorothy Erhart-Morrison, author of "No Mountain High Enough."
"The participating authors have each made a significant contribution to the intellectual landscape regarding issues of concern to girls and women," says Commission Chair Eileen Lipson, "We are so fortunate to have such a wealth of talent and scholarship among women in our small community."
The event is free to the public, and refreshments will be served. The Santa Monica Public Library is located at 1343 Sixth Street. For more information, call (310) 458-8701.
