Third Samohi Masterworks Concert Mar. 7

The third installment of the Santa Monica Monica High School Choral Studies Department's Masterwork Concert series is scheduled for next Wednesday.
"Madrigals: Old and New, Near and Far" will feature the program's three advanced choirs -- Samohi Chorale, Madrigal Ensemble and Chamber Singers.
The Madrigal Ensemble will perform "Madrigali: Six Fire Songs on Italian Renaissance Poems" by Morten Lauridsen. The Chamber Singers will do "Alarcon Madrigals" by Roger Bourland. The concert will conclude with the 60-voice Chorale singing five madrigals by Claudio Monteverdi.
Proceeds from the concert will benefit the scholarship fund to send students from these choirs to perform at a festival at Lincoln Center in New York City. A $10 donation will be solicited for tickets.
The concert will be held in the John Adams Middle School Auditorium at 7 p.m. on March 7. To reserve tickets, please email SAMOHIChoir@aol.com or call (310) 395-3204, ext. 403.
