St. Monica's Boys Advance, Will Meet Crossroads In Finals

The St. Monica Boys Basketball team beat L.A. Baptist in the semi-final round of the Southern Section Division IV-A CIF Tournament, with a final score of 62-37. They will play Crossroads in the Southern Section finals (a rare all-Santa Monica CIF contest.)
St. Monica's Girls did not fare as well in their semi-final match vs. St. Bernard. The team went down to defeat by a score of 62-37. St. Monica Assistant Athletic Director and Girls Basketball Coach Michele Rice was philosophical after the loss. "Even though the season didn't end the way we would have liked, there's a lot to be proud of. There were many accomplishments this season both on an individual and team level."
The Mariner Girls lose their star center, 6-4 senior Danielle Adefeso, who will attend Arizona next year. Says Rice, "I wish the all the seniors well, and I wish the boys the best as they play for the CIF title."
