Poets Gathering

Wanda Coleman, John Thomas, Philomene Long, Exene Cervenka, Frank T. Rios, Tony Scibella, Ellyn Maybe, Linda Albertano, Viggo Mortensen, Kieth Antar Mason, Majid Naficy, and others will appear at Beyond Baroque’s Dedication for the Venice Poets at the new Venice Boardwalk on Saturday, March 3. Thanks to the efforts of Beyond Baroque’s Fred Dewey, LA has something else to be proud of besides Bukowski and X. Beyond Baroque recently collected a selection of poetry fragments from Venice poets past and present, which are now engraved in concrete on buildings and walls around the new Venice Boardwalk Park. This reading not only features some pretty big names, some beat legends and some hot up n’ comers, but also includes the reading of works by Jim Morrison, Bruce Boyd, Manazar Gamboa, Stuart Perkoff, Taylor Mead, Bob Flanagan & Charles Bukowski. The reading will be held in front of the poetry wall, just follow the words as they drift along the boardwalk at the new Venice park substation (end of Windward Ave). 2:30 p.m., FREE.
