Highlights

Pop

B.B. King at The Wiltern 3/1. There’s only one like B.B. This living legend is one of the those rare few who not only seems to be able to skirt age and time, but somehow also remains true to his original spirit and style. His voice booms and sears, weaving a web with his trusty guitar Lucille, from the tragic love of "The Thrill is Gone," to the tongue in cheek sex addict’s anthem "Bad Case of Love," and back again to plain ol’ blues.
Lee "Scratch" Perry at The House of Blues, 3/6. One of the all time gods of reggae dub producers, Perry has been around since the rock steady era, which predates reggae. A sort of reggae Sun Ra, he was responsible for most of the Wailers’ sound and their subsequent hits. While some other producers ended up dated and irrelevant, his unique signature sound and innovation proves can still throw down tracks and mop up the floor with kids a third of his age. Don’t miss this incredibly rare performance. In an interview from Reggae International, the "Upsetter," said, "The overmind is here to destroy the undermind. The overmind control by water, which is here to water de garden and de flowers, to let the trees grow, and let de children sing and let de birds fly and let the air be free from pollutions."

Jazz, Classical

Clare Fischer, Helio Delmiro at The Jazz Bakery. As part of the west coast bop scene, Clare Fischer’s been rollin’ it out right for three decades or so, joined by Helio Delmiro’s wanton guitar, it’s a jazz lover’s delight.
