Bev Moore Decamps To Marina del Rey

After 18 years as the Executive Director of Santa Monica's Visitors and Convention Bureau (CVB), Beverly Moore is leaving to take a similar position with the city of Marina del Rey.
Moore was the founding director of the CVB and, according to Santa Monica City Manager Susan McCarthy, has had an "extraordinary career here in Santa Monica" because she organized the CVB and "did a lot with limited resources."
McCarthy went on to say that Moore is a very "thoughtful and strategic person" who developed "markets for the City that resulted in longer stays by travelers...[and] encouraged sustainable tourism."
Rodney Punt, President of the CVB Board, heads the committee that is conducting the search for Moore's replacement. McCarthy is a member of the committee, which hopes to complete its work by the end of June and have a new Executive Director in place by July or August.
The entire CVB Board will interview all of the potential candidates.
Misty Kerns, who currently works with Moore, will serve as interim director.
Punt told the Mirror that Moore is a "marvelous leader" and said it would be "challenging to find someone of her caliber." He credits Moore with putting "Santa Monica on the map and making it one of greatest destinations in the world." Punt also credits Moore with assisting the City's hotels to achieve one of the highest occupancy rates in Southern California.
McCarthy said that Moore was "attracted to the Marina because it is another start-up [enabling her to] face the challenges and opportunities of a new organization."
Councilman Ken Genser described Moore as "bright and savvy...[and] a formidable force in tourism marketing."
Attempts by the Mirror to contact Moore for an interview were unsuccessful.
