Santa Monica SCENE

Cartoons Now Wearable, Drinkable
The Mirror's editorial cartoonist, Tony Peyser, is among the cartoonists whose art is now adorning mugs, t-shirts, sweat shirts and mouse pads available at the Impolitic Cartoon Art Gallery
Peyser's cartoon asks the question, "What Do You Call a White House Occupant Who Wasn't Really Elected?" Answer: "Resident Bush."
Impolitic proprietor Josh Needle added cartoon merchandise to his inventory mix in response to numerous requests by visitors to his Gallery and website over the holidays. "People really love the smart cartoon art that I sell through the Gallery and wanted mugs and other items with cartoon alternatives to the characters that appeal mostly to their kids, so I figured out how to offer them what they want without turning my Gallery into a t-shirt shop."
While samples can be seen at the Gallery, all merchandise is ordered off of the web site, "another example of the flexibility and growth that can be achieved by small businesses utilyzing both 'bricks and clicks' business models," said Needle.
Needle already has six different cartoonists' "shops" set up, including Peyser's and other editorial and New Yorker cartoonists, and will continue to add to them as quickly as cartoonists send him special drawings to feature on the mugs and other merchandise.
The Tigler cartoon featured on the front page of last week's Mirror about the current energy crisis is the most recent addition to the collection.
Impolitic is located in the courtyard at 2665 Main Street in Santa Monica and at www.impolitic.com.
