New Cafe Opens At Olympic High School

Elizabeth Astrin, Executive Director of Project ECHO, and Dan Erhler, Executive Vice President of the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce, were on hand for the ribbon-cutting, marking the grand opening of Oly's Cafe at Olympic High School last Wednesday.
The City of Santa Monica contributed $25,000 for the cafeteria to Project ECHO (Entrepreneurial Concrepts: Hands On), a non-profit organization that teaches career and "life skills" to high school students through entrepreneurial ventures.
Oly's has a full kitchen in which students prepare and sell food.
Community partners, such as MacDonald's and Taco Bell, will work with the students to expand their menu.
Students also run a store which sells Olympic High School gear.
