College Names Fund-Raiser

On December 1, JoAnn McLin Ortiz will become Santa Monica Monica College's Director of Institutional Advancement.
Previously Vice President of Development at Santa Monica's Center for Healthy Aging, Ortiz will oversee the college's fund-raising and development programs, including its $24.8 million capital campaign.
A Malibu resident, Ortiz has also served a director of development and public affairs at UCLA's School of Education and in alumni development and scholarships and Director of Public Affairs at the University of Oklahoma's Energy Center.
In the 1970s, she held several positions at Pepperdine University -- including assistant professor of journalism, Director of Student Publications, and assistant Vice President of University Relations. While at Pepperdine, Ortiz was named an Outstanding College Magazine Advisor.
Ortiz has bachelor's and master's degrees in journalism education from Pepperdine and a doctorate in higher education administration from UCLA.
