Troop 2 BSA Santa Monica To Award Eagle Scout Rank To Local Youth

Seven Santa Monica teenagers will be awarded the highest rank one can earn in the Boy Scouts of America on June 7. Campbell Burns Affleck, Sebastian Joseph Carillo Langlois, David Jimmy Lin, Sean Aaron McHugh, Hayden Sauters, Jonathan Bingham Seymour, and Bennett G. Zemke will be honored with the rank of Eagle Scout at the Troop 2 Eagle Court of Honor to be held at Camp Josepho.

The 24th annual Santa Monica Festival returns this Saturday from 11 am to 6 pm at Clover Park. The day offers free fun for all ages.

The Pedagogical Institute of Los Angeles, in collaboration with Evergreen Community School, First Presbyterian Nursery School, The New School-West, and Palisades Preschool, will host a two-day conference starting Friday called "Children as Producers of Culture: looking inward and outward."

Santa Monica Dojo Supports At-Risk South Central Youth

In 2009, a Santa Monica-based School of Martial Arts branched out to form a Foundation to teach a free weekly class to a handful of at-risk youth in South Central Los Angeles. Fast-forward to today, the program has significantly grown to multiple free classes that serve about 200 students a week who live in South Central.

Four teenage musicians from Crossroads School in Santa Monica are helping save financially impacted music and education programs through their organization called Teens United Live.
