Meet The Veterans Support Team!

This year, the Veterans Support Team consisting of members of the Santa Monica Elks, Santa Monica Emblem, Knights of Columbus, Venice American Legion, and the Sunset Masonic Lodge delivered fifteen Welcome Home baskets to the Ocean Park Community Center (OPCC) in Santa Monica.

Veterans Day has its roots in a proclamation issued by President Woodrow Wilson in November 1919, a year after World War I ended, designating Nov. 11 as Armistice Day. States soon starting declaring Nov. 11 a legal holiday.

Veterans Day Observances Planned Throughout L.A. County

Veterans Day will be marked in Los Angeles County today by a parade in the northeast San Fernando Valley and events at Forest Lawn Memorial Park-Hollywood Hills and in Commerce designed to improve the financial and physical health of men and women who served in the armed forces of the United States.

Santa Monica Elks 906 Recognized For Giving $65K In Goods, Services To Veterans

Santa Monica War Memorial At Cemetery Approved

Those with Santa Monica roots who served and fallen in the military might soon be honored daily as the Santa Monica City Council unanimously approved Nov. 26 a war memorial to be built at Woodlawn Cemetery. The Memorial Wall would honor local natives who gave their lives to defend the United States in battle since the late nineteenth century.
