Tongva After Dark This Wednesday To Feature Gypsy, Eastern European Entertainment

Tongva Park continues its second season of cultural and eclectic programming this month with an enchanting Tongva After Dark evening of Gypsy and Eastern European musicians and singers, followed by a Family Saturday presenting a hula hoop fitness concert for all ages.

Tongva Park, Ken Genser Square Earn National Achievement Awards

Santa Monica's Tongva Park and Ken Genser Square projects were honored with a National Achievement Award for Urban Design from the American Planning Association on March 31.

A piece of play equipment called Glacier that the City plans to purchase for Ozone Park with a $50,000 Kiwanis donation. The donation and play equipment selection are not considered final until approved by City Council at their April 28 meeting.

Kiwanis Club 100th Birthday Creates A New Life For Santa Monica Playground

As part of its 100th birthday celebrations, Kiwanis International is promoting the creation of children’s playgrounds around the world. More than 11 new playgrounds are to be built in 2015.

Community members are invited to participate in the second workshop on improvements to the 1-acre lawn at Reed Park in Santa Monica.

City Council voted to ban exotic animal handlers from exhibiting their reptile and exotic bird pets at Palisades Park near the Pier entrance. The ordinance goes into effect next month.

New Santa Monica Recreation & Parks Commissioners Focus On Green Space

Santa Monica’s Recreation & Parks Commission gained two new commissioners recently, both who have an eye on keeping the city spacious and green.

A rendering of “Buffer Park” that will be developed on Exposition Boulevard between Stewart Street and Dorchester Avenue. Its official name will be decided by the City Council now that the Recreation and Parks Commission has made three recommendations.

Santa Monica City Hall has launched a new opportunity for fans of Tongva Park to show their support for the park. Benches located in prime spots throughout Tongva Park are now part of the City’s Give Santa Monica program.
