The U.S. Post Office located on the ground floor of 2720 Neilson Way in Santa Monica reopened today, Feb. 19 after testing found no traces of asbestos.

The U.S. Post Office branch at 2720 Neilson Way in Santa Monica's Ocean Park neighborhood reopened with full service today, after possible asbestos contamination forced the temporarily closure of the small facility that contains retail and Post Office Box on Friday.

The U.S. Post Office located on the ground floor of 2720 Neilson Way in Santa Monica has been temporarily closed while asbestos testing takes place.

Earlier this month self described ‘happy bicyclist’ Mike Kilgore wrote a letter of public thanks to the city of Santa Monica for the new bike lanes on Ocean Park and 14th. As a ‘happy resident’ or 14th street I would also like to thank the city of Santa Monica for the bike lanes. However my reasons are very different than Mr. Kilgore’s.

The word “shaka” is the Hawaiian hand sign for “good will” and good will is what married couple Michael Anapol and Kathie Gibboney are spreading at Shaka Shack Burgers at 1701 Ocean Park Boulevard in Santa Monica. Since November last year, the couple have been serving up satisfying burgers at their tiki/surf styled lounge that’s reminiscent of the 60s complete with TV tables, but with a modern touch.

The Buy Local Expo scheduled for this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Third Street Promenade has been postponed until March 31. However, Buy Local Weekend across the city will still continue as planned on Saturday and Sunday.
