Community Food Drive Starts Monday At 123 Moving & Storage In Santa Monica

Move For Hunger is partnering with 123 Moving & Storage in Santa Monica to host a community food drive to help end hunger in the L.A. County community.

Volunteers from the non-profit organization Food Forward collect unsold produce from the Santa Monica farmers markets that’s donated weekly to people in need.

Registration is now open for the third annual Bowling for Birthdays fundraiser at the AMF Bay Shore Lanes in Santa Monica, a charity event that raises funds to throw birthday parties for homeless and foster youth living in the greater Los Angeles area.

Santa Monica Dojo Supports At-Risk South Central Youth

In 2009, a Santa Monica-based School of Martial Arts branched out to form a Foundation to teach a free weekly class to a handful of at-risk youth in South Central Los Angeles. Fast-forward to today, the program has significantly grown to multiple free classes that serve about 200 students a week who live in South Central.

Santa Monica resident Michael Wolper, co-founder of two non-profit organizations that teach mindfulness to people struggling with depression, stress and other life challenges, joined the Board of Directors of Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services this week.

After Kenny Bass reached out to his friend Joshua Rivers who founded The Battle Buddy Foundation, he was prescribed a $15,000 dog for his Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
