Cal Fire reports that the Springs fire in Ventura county is 60 percent contained as of 6:30 am Sunday morning with containment expected on Monday.

PCH Receives Emergency Funds Following Camarillo Springs Fire

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has received authority for $2.5 million in state emergency funds to protect the Pacific Coast Highway (State Route 1) from falling debris and rocks following the Camarillo Springs Fire.

The small earthquake struck two miles southeast of Malibu.

Teenager Rescued From Poison-Oak Laden Canyon In Malibu

An incapacitated Calabasas teenager was rescued Thursday evening approximately 150 feet down a poison-oak laden canyon off of Mulholland Highway -- about 1.5 miles east of Kanan Road near the infamous “Rock Store” in Malibu.

Santa Monica High School (9-8) tested the might of the Malibu High School (14-3) Sharks with Vikings pitcher Connor Greene retiring 13 batters to spearhead the win 5-2 in the first game of the doubleheader baseball games at Malibu High School Friday afternoon. The Vikings went on to win the second game 2-1. Samohi's starting pitcher Greene said that he thought the first game of the doubleheader went well. "My legs were a little tired but by the fourth inning I finally loosened up, I got into a groove, and did what I've been doing most of the season," said Greene. "Being a rival school it's always a fun win."

Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling’s son Scott was found dead in his Malibu home at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, with investigators looking the possibility of a drug overdose, according to the LA Times.

The Nautica Malibu Triathlon will be held Sunday, Sept. 16 at 7:15 a.m. and consist of a Classic distance race that is made up of a half mile ocean swim, 18 mile bike ride, and a four mile run through Malibu.

St. Monica’s running back Kevin Holubowski piled up 267 yards rushing Saturday night off of 40 carries netting an average of 6.7 yards a carry to power the Mariners (1-1) offensive engine as they successfully defended themselves against a tight band of Malibu High School Sharks (0-1) to hold on to a 20-12 victory.
