Lincoln Middle School Teacher James Bromberg Remembered

A standing-room-only remembrance was held Sunday, April 6 at Lincoln Middle School to honor the life of James Scott “Jimmy” Bromberg, a Santa Monica native who died March 29 after fighting cancer. He was 28.

Jim Hart writer of Steven Spielberg directed 'Hook' visited with the kids in the fall to discuss the nuances of Peter Pan and returned to see the kids during dress rehearsal on Tuesday.

Sunshine 12 Westside Girls Volleyball Team Wins SCVA National Qualifier In Anaheim

The Sunshine 12 Westside girls volleyball team won the Southern California Volleyball Association (SCVA) National Qualifier at the Anaheim Convention Center Sunday afternoon after an amazing weekend tournament that sported twists and turns and saw the girls pressured to win three matches in a row before they won the championship game in the gold round. Sunshine 12 Westside girls volleyball Head Coach Lenka Jamrichova said that the girls gave it their all in order to win the SCVA tournament. "Going 1-2 on the first day was not ideal but I still knew we could get back into it if we played like we did in St. Louis and in the last regional tournament," said Jamrichova.

The Sunshine 12 Westside girls volleyball team celebrates after winning the Mideast Qualifier in St. Louis on March 17.  With the win, the Sunshine 12 Westside girls volleyball team qualified to play in Junior Nationals.

Sunshine 12 Westside Girls Volleyball Team Sets Gold Goal After Winning Mideast Qualifier

The Sunshine 12 Westside girls volleyball team won the 2013 Nike Mideast Qualifier volleyball tournament after grinding through three grueling days of volleyball matches against top club volleyball teams in the nation in St. Louis March 15-17. With the prestigious national tournament win, the Sunshine 12 Westside girls volleyball team qualifies to play in the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championships in Dallas,Texas June 28-July 5.

$16M Lincoln Middle School Development Moves Forward

Lincoln Middle School held a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday for its new two-story library and classroom. The $16 million project began in December 2012 and is anticipated to be complete in September 2014.

Home Run Derby Starts Off Santa Monica Little League Baseball Season

Santa Monica Little League hosted its first Rosti Home Run Derby event followed by the first games of the baseball season on Majors Field at Memorial Park Saturday morning. After an hour of home run slams by the Santa Monica Little League's top batters, Orioles Cody Rains was declared winner of the Home Run Derby. "I'm speechless," said Rains. "I've always been known as a good hitter and now I just proved it."
