$1 Million Gift Will Support UCLA Research On Advanced Lung Disease

Philanthropists Michael and Linda Keston of Brentwood have made a gift of $1 million to the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

Four teams competed against each other to make the tastiest tree yet. Trees that would make Marie Antoinette proud were made out of confections like French macaroons, marshmallows, fruits, sour candies, donut holes, and more.

Like many of its recipients, the Brentwood Youth Citizenship Award is a 16-year-old that pays tribute to those who help the community. The Brentwood Community Council Dec. 1 recognized the following four high school students who exemplify leadership, personal initiative, and a commitment to serving their school, neighborhood, and city. The award came with four certificates from L.A. Councilmember Mike Bonin, Assemblymember Richard Bloom, L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti, and State Senator Ben Allen.

Vince Kane, director of the VA's National Homeless Center, spoke to the Brentwood Community Council Tuesday, Nov. 3 about the 889-page West Los Angeles VA Master Plan. But BCC members criticized the VA Master Plan’s failure to mention the traffic impact on the surround Brentwood community. BCC member and Brentwood Homeowners Association President Ray Klein suggested that the comment period be extended until after the Environmental Impact Report comes out. Other residents were concerned about saving Brentwood Park and the parking lot at Brentwood Village, both of which are under threat from the VA.
