Breeze Bike Share presented by Hulu is off to a rolling start. To date, the City of Santa Monica owned bike share system has accumulated 2,128 members completing 8,760 trips. In total, members have traveled 17,887 miles, about the equivalent of three round trips from Santa Monica to New York City, logging over 3,900 hours of ride time.

The City of Santa Monica’s Safe Routes to School Program partnered with the McKinley Elementary School sustainability and beautification committee and Santa Monica Spoke (a local bike advocacy group) to host more than 600 attendees at the Family Bike Festival held on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015.

The public and private sector came together like a breeze Thursday morning at the official launch of Santa Monica’s, and the region’s, first bike share program of its kind. Hundreds of green-wearing Hulugans and city officials burst onto Main Street in front of City Hall to signify the release of all 500 eight-speed Breeze bicycles at 75 stations citywide. Several stations in Venice are expected to follow soon thereafter.

Dear Editor, As a resident of the Ocean Park community of Santa Monica I truly love to ride my bike on the beach bike path. As such, I was shocked to have a very unfriendly encounter with a police officer in Redondo Beach this weekend while peacefully riding on the bike path.
