Archer Softball Advances In CIF Playoffs With Win Over La Puente

The Archer School for Girls (10-10) softball team has advanced in the CIF Division V playoffs despite a tough schedule and numerous injuries on the Panthers 2013 season after playing only one year of softball in the vaunted Alpha League. The Panthers varsity softball team unloaded for 17 hits and 15 runs en route to a 15-2 opening round victory over La Puente High School Tuesday in the CIF-SS Division 5 playoffs Tuesday afternoon.

Pacifica Christian Edges Out Archer In Softball 2-1

It was the bottom of the seventh inning with two outs in the softball game and runners on first and third. Pacifica Christian's (11-3) pitcher Chandler Dolan had pitched a near perfect game allowing only one run while Archer High School's (10-9) pitcher Carolyn Zaccharo had allowed only two. Archer's Allie Simon had just circled the bases scoring the Panthers first run of the game after being batted in by her teammate Rebecca Samuelson.

Windward Invitational Gives Westside Track And Field Athletes Competitive Edge

The Windward Invitational track and field meet brought together numerous athletes from the Los Angeles Area that included Brentwood, Archer, Crossroads, and Windward high schools offering athletes the chance to compete against each other at Santa Monica College Friday afternoon. 2012 Olympian Prince Mumba, who coaches Cross Country at Windward High School, said that he thought the meet was important for all the participants. "This is the first track meet for the high schools and it is really important for them," said Mumba. "It helps them prepare for their league meets next week."

Westside Girls Basketball Teams Advance In CIF Playoffs

The Westside saw six of its teams enter the playoffs and compete in a winner advances tournament bracket to determine how far teams would advance toward the championship round of the CIF Southern Section Girls Basketball. Westside teams competing for the 2013 CIF Southern Section crowns include: Windward (30-0) Crossroads (21-3), St. Monica (27-6), Pacifica Christian (10-12), and Archer (6-18).

Pacifica Christian knocked out Archer winning the CIF quarter finals match between the rivals with the Seawolves battling through the Panthers to win 3-1 after a shocking first set loss before a packed gym of dedicated Seawolves and Panthers fans at Crossroads High School Saturday night.

Archer Volleyball Defeats Bishop and Vistamar To Advance To CIF Quarterfinals

The Archer Panthers (15-3) defeated the Bishop Broncos in the first round of the CIF Southern Section playoffs in volleyball winning all three sets 25-15, 25-14, and 25-18 at Santa Monica College Tuesday night before beating Vistamar on Thursday night.

Westside Volleyball Teams To Begin CIF Playoffs

Westside girls volleyball teams Santa Monica High School (10-2), Pacifica Christian (13-1), St. Monica (9-4), New Roads (9-8), Archer (13-3), and Windward (12-4) have all qualified for the CIF Southern Section playoffs.

Archer Volleyball Captures Delphic League Title

The Archer (12-3) Volleyball team captured the Delphic League title with three recent league wins against Calvary Chapel (12-9), Pacific Hills (0-16), and Milkin. The Panthers are now 9-1 in league play with their only loss to Milkin earlier in the season avenged Wednesday, Oct. 31.

Archer's Ciena Lennon meets Marshall's Aimee Cuellar at the net to move the Panthers to within one at 11-10 during the second set Tuesday night at Santa Monica College.  Archer would go on to win the set 29-27.

Archer Volleyball Handles Marshall With 3-0 Win

It was the second set in the Archer (9-3) versus Marshall High School (5-10) girls volleyball game Tuesday night, and the Eagles were up a point 27-26. Archer outside hitter Maia Barnett had switched positions and was now a middle blocker stepping up in the right place at the right time with a massive block to stop a kill by Marshall's Sarah Eguchi to tie the game at 27-27.

Archer Volleyball (8-3) is improving week to week with their latest victory 3-1 over league rival the California Academy of Math and Science (7-4) at Santa Monica College Wednesday night in a game that showed that the Panthers are not to be underestimated.

Pacifica Christian beat Mayfield in two matches 25-19 and 25-18 to win the championship game at the Brentwood Volleyball Tournament that saw a good number of top volleyball teams exhibit their talents and skills Saturday afternoon Oct. 13.

The Brentwood Volleyball Tournament is a two day volleyball event on the Westside that brings together a good number of local girls teams who are given the ability to display their volleyball talents in a comfortable round robin styled competition.

Crossroads Women’s Volleyball (3-2) opened their first home game of the season against the Archer Panthers (1-1-0) Tuesday playing an even game with five intense sets scoring 25-22, 21-25, 20-25, 25-23, and losing the game to the Panthers in the final set 9-15.
