Bail was set at $20,000 for a 44-year-old Santa Monica man on Friday, Nov. 8 after choking his girlfriend while telling her he was going to kill her – all over an argument about how the man treats his dog.
Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to the 700 block of Palisades Beach Road at 10:10 pm on this day after a woman had reported that her ex-boyfriend had been choking her.
When the officers arrived they spoke with the victim who told them her ex-boyfriend had climbed onto the balcony of her residence.
The victim continued to explain to the officers that after he had climbed onto her balcony they had begun arguing over how the ex-boyfriend had been treating his dog.
Apparently the argument escalated to the point where the ex-boyfriend put his hand around the woman’s throat and began to choke her whilst informing her that he was about to terminate her life.
The woman successfully fought this ex-boyfriend off and he then ran out of the residence.
The ex-boyfriend had, incidentally, also called the officers from his own residence and reported the event.
Other officers had responded to the suspect’s address and had arrested this Santa Monica man.
This man was later charged with intentional infliction of corporal injury and terrorist threats.
Bail was set at $20,000.
