Westside Family Health Center (WFHC) will host a free Lunch &
Learn community event this week called “What You Can Do to Help Prevent
Cancer’’ with leading oncologist Dr. Melani Shaum.
The event will take place Wednesday, Oct. 2 from noon to 2 pm at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church at 1343 Ocean Park Boulevard, Santa Monica.
Dr. Shaum, listed in “The Best Doctors in America” for 17 years running, is Director of the Gastrointestinal Tumor Program at the Angeles Clinic and Research Institute.
Former Los Angeles City Council member Bill Rosendahl, who was treated by Dr. Shaum and is in recovery, praised her publicly stating, “Thank God for Melani.”
Topics to be addressed include tips on how you can help prevent cancer through healthy choices as well as information about what to do when faced with cancer.
Dr. Shaum will also address common myths about cancer and answer your specific questions.
WFHC’s Lunch & Learn series provides free education and information presentations to small and large groups on the Westside and throughout the Los Angeles area.
Founded in 1974, WFHC is a non-profit community health center providing a wide range of low-cost health care services. WFHC serves more than 9,500 low-income and uninsured women, men and children, regardless of one’s ability to pay.
Parking, admission, and lunch are free for participants at Wednesday’s event. Seating is limited.
