Santa Monica College Theatre Arts Department next weekend begins performances "A Child's Version of A Midsummer Night's Dream” starting Friday, July 19.
Shows continue through July 28 as part of SMC’s tradition of offering children’s plays in the summer.
The play, adapted by Dr. Adrianne Harrop, is one of William Shakespeare's most popular works and will be held in the Theatre Arts Studio Stage, 1900 Pico Boulevard.
The spirits of the haunted woods and the bewitching transformations of various characters (including Bottom who becomes a donkey!), come to life through actions that are understandable and enjoyable for children.
This ever popular comedy is a wonderful introduction to the world of Shakespeare for the young audience.
Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 7 pm and Sundays at 1 pm. An additional 1 pm matinee is added for Saturday, July 27.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 3 to 12. Children under 3 are free when seated on a parent’s lap. A $1-per-ticket service charge is added. Tickets are $3 higher at the door. There is no late seating.
