Santa Monica police arrested a 24-year-old South Gate woman on Sunday, Dec. 23 for assaulting her ex-boyfriend after he broke up with her after he found out she was cheating on him.

At 12:30 a.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were on routine patrol in the 2900 block of Neilson Way when a man who needed their help flagged them down.

The officers exited their vehicle and spoke with this male victim who told them what his problem was: he had just discovered his girlfriend was cheating on him.

He continued to tell the officers that as a result of this discovery he had decided to terminate the relationship.

The man added that this soon-to-be-ex-girlfriend (STBEG) had not allowed him to leave the location until the sight of the approaching police officers halted her restraining tendencies.

The officers then spoke with the STBEG and immediately noticed that she was highly intoxicated, and by then the couple had become embroiled in their dispute again, and the STBEG had struck the victim in the face and also had pushed him.

After doing this the STBEG turned towards the officers and requested they take her to jail.

One of the officers grabbed the woman’s arm in order to prohibit her from assaulting the victim again and the woman responded by punching the officers in the chest not once, but twice!

This South Gate resident was charged with spousal battery, battery upon a police officer, resisting a police officer, and public intoxication.

Bail was set at $20,000.
