Subaru of Santa Monica on Thursday partnered with Meals On Wheels West to help deliver meals and holiday gifts.

Subaru of Santa Monica employees used a fleet of Subaru vehicles to help make the deliveries to homebound residents and their pets in Santa Monica.

It is part of Subaru of America’s national “Share the Love” event based on the love Subaru owners have for their vehicles and their desire to help worthy causes.

Every weekday, Meals On Wheels West volunteers deliver companionship and two nutritious meals to homebound, elderly, and disabled residents and their pets.

The services allow clients to remain living independently in their homes rather than moving to assisted living facilities or burdening public services.

Meals cost an average of $8 per day, but no client is turned away for inability to pay.

Regular healthy meals improve overall health and are as important as prescription medication. Meals On Wheels West serves more than 300 clients in Los Angeles’ coastal communities of Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Topanga and parts of Marina Del Rey.
