A 25-year-old Santa Monica man was arrested Thursday, Nov. 15 after returning to his ex-girlfriend’s place to retrieve some of his belongings, but turned violent after an argument escalated.

At 10:25 p.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department responded to a residence in the 600 block of Ocean Park Boulevard after they had received a report of a robbery.

When the officers arrived they spoke with the female victim who happened to be the ex-girlfriend of the suspect, a man.

She told the officers that the ex-boyfriend had visited her in order to retrieve some belongings, and that they had become embroiled in an argument.

She continued to tell the officers the ex-boyfriend had taken her phone away from her, but had also slapped and threatened to kill her.

The woman explained she tried to resist, but this ex-boyfriend had kept the phone and thrown some knives, forks, spoons, pans, and other kitchenware items at her as he fled the property.

The woman knew where the ex-boyfriend worked, so she gave the officers the address, which was on the Venice Boardwalk.

She also told them he would have arrived by the time the officers had traveled to this location.

The officers drove to the ex-boyfriend’s workplace, and located him by using the woman’s cellphone.

This Santa Monica resident was detained and arrested after he had been identified. He was subsequently charged with robbery and battery upon a co-habitant.

His bail was set at $50,000.
