A fire broke out in Santa Monica High School’s boys’ locker room just after lunchtime on Tuesday.

Santa Monica Fire Department Captain Judah Mitchell said crews responded to a call of smoke in the boys’ locker room at 1:55 p.m.

Upon arrival, Fire Department personnel extinguished the fire which damaged approximately 10 lockers and caused moderate smoke damage to the locker room.

“We don’t have a cause right now, so it’s under investigation," Mitchell said. "No students or firefighters were hurt.”

Arson Investigators from the Santa Monica Fire Department and Santa Monica Police Department responded and are conducting a joint investigation.

This investigation is ongoing and anyone having information is asked to contact: Detective Robert D’Andrea at (310) 458-6679, Sergeant Robert Almada at (310) 458-8486 or the Santa Monica Police Department (24 hours) at (310) 458-8495.
