Fashion, Beauty Bloggers Convene At Annenberg

Whoever said all thing fashion happen in New York City or France clearly has not been paying attention to Santa Monica, where the Fashion and Beauty Blog, or FABB, conference made its first-ever visit to the West Coast on April 30.

Dubbed as “the first blogger event of its kind, curating an elite group of digital fashion, beauty, technology and celebrity leaders along with influential advertisers to the blogger community,” the daylong event made the Annenberg Community Beach House the place to be for anyone and everyone who has covered the fashion industry as a blogger or member of the press.

Featured at FABB were “a series of panels and keynotes featuring industry insiders.” There were several important discussions held throughout the morning and into the afternoon that provided tips on how bloggers could better position themselves in cyberspace while also discussing the business of being creative.

The conference was organized by Lucky Magazine; P&G Beauty and Grooming was a lead sponsor.

“We’ve selected an amazing group of people who are redefining how fashion and technology work together,” said Lucky Editor-in-Chief, Brandon Holley. “These thought leaders set the trends for fashion and beauty blogging, e-commerce, social media and more. The interaction between the panels, dialogue between bloggers and the Lucky reader watching the live streaming video promises to be completely engaging and innovative.”

Discussion topics included sessions entitled “Staying True to Your Voice” and “What Fashion Can Learn from Hollywood.” Focusing on how one could convert her or his passion for fashion into a viable revenue stream were panels entitled “My Entrepreneurial Story,” “Turning Your Dream Into a Business,” “Monetization for Bloggers – What Works, What Doesn’t, What's Next,” and “Working with Brands the Right Way.”

Zac Posen, a designer who has his own label, commenced the conference with a keynote address. He spoke of the importance of social media and how blogging has an influence on fashion trends.

Facebook’s former marketing head, Randi Zuckerberg, who spoke of how social media can help one build her or his business, gave the morning’s second keynote address.

Actresses Jessica Alba and Elizabeth Banks also spoke at the conference.

Hosted by Lucky, the Conde Nast publication launched in 2000; it produces an award-winning magazine about shopping and “showcases what to wear and how to wear it.”
