13th Annual Santa Monica READS Program Concludes Saturday With Author Jo Baker:

Santa Monica Public Library wraps up its annual community reading program, Santa Monica READS, with an afternoon talk with this year’s featured author, Jo Baker, this Saturday, March 21.

It will be held at 2 pm in the Main Library’s MLK, Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Boulevard.

For the last several weeks, readers all over Santa Monica have been reading and discussing Jo Baker’s bestselling novel, Longbourn, a literary extension of Jane Austen’s classic Pride and Prejudice that invites us into the lives of the servants working in the Bennet family household.

Baker makes the trip from her native England to discuss her book with Santa Monica readers, explain the origins and research that accompanied the writing of Longbourn, as well as to talk about her other novels and plans for the future. A book sale and signing follows.

This special event is a part of Santa Monica Reads, the city’s annual community reading program.

Now in its thirteenth year, Santa Monica Reads encourages everyone in Santa Monica to read and discuss the same novel.

For more information on Santa Monica Reads 2015, visit http://smpl.org/Longbourn2015.

This program ticketed. Free tickets will be released one hour prior to the program in the lobby outside the Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium. One ticket per guest, and guests must be present to receive a ticket. No reservations available. Seating is first come, first served.

Santa Monica Public Library is wheelchair accessible. For special disabled services, call Library Administration at (310) 458-8606 at least one week prior to event. The Main Library is served by Big Blue Bus routes 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9 and 10. Ride your bike.
