It is safe to say that basketball season is here. Football is gone. Now let’s see the basketball players get it on. The Los Angeles area is rich with all-star basketball talent. Don’t forget that there’s plenty of talent to go around in the Santa Monica area as well.
Some of the best players in the Southland are right in the backyard. There are two teams on the boys’ side that will get some people’s attention this season. Windward and Santa Monica High School, both have loaded squads that will compete with the best of them.
In early season polls, both Windward and Santa Monica are ranked among the Top 25 basketball teams in the Southland. Windward, ranked as the 17th best team in Southern California, will be paced by junior forward Roman Davis.
Davis has already received offers from major colleges and universities, such as Vanderbilt. The 6'7'', 176 pound baller is worth paying attention to this season. The same can be said about Santa Monica junior guard Nuwriyl Williams.
Williams is considered to be one of the hottest prospects around when it come to playing the guard position. The 6'2'', 150 Williams have the Vikings ranked as the No. 23 team in the Southland. Santa Monica opened their basketball season with a 63-55 win against Palisades Monday night.
