Alert Police Blotter: Trashed?

Woman Aged 36 Arrested For Assaulting Santa Monica Starbucks Employee

A 36-year-old woman was arrested Saturday, Jan. 25 after causing havoc at a local Starbucks, including throwing a trash can lid at an employee.

Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to the Starbucks at 3020 Lincoln Boulevard at 12:50 pm on this day in order to investigate a report of an assault.

Upon arrival at the location the officers spoke with an employee of the store who told them that she had been on a (coffee?) break when a woman walked behind the counter and started to yell and throw various objects around.

The manager of the location had at that point asked this woman to leave the store.

As this woman was walking out of the store she picked up a trash can lid and threw it at the employee who was on her break.

The trash can lid didn’t hit the employee, but it did strike the chair upon which she was seated at the time.

This woman then left the store and walked south into Los Angeles whereupon she caused such a commotion that she garnered the attention of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The SMPD officers met with the LAPD officers and took charge of this 36-year-old woman who refused to give them her address.

She was later charged with assault with a deadly weapon (the trash can lid) and bail was set at $30,000.

Editor’s Note: These reports are part of a regular police coverage series entitled “Alert Police Blotter” (APB), which injects some minor editorial into certain police activities in Santa Monica. Not all of The Mirror’s coverage of incidents involving police are portrayed in this manner. More serious crimes and police-related activities are regularly reported without editorial in the pages of the Santa Monica Mirror and its website, smmirror.com.
