The relocation of existing water lines currently located under various points along the upcoming Expo Light Rail Line route in Santa Monica will begin Monday, June 25 and continue through the end of August.
Major work activities will include saw-cutting and removal of asphalt, excavation of soil, pipe installation, backfilling, and asphalt restoration.
When feasible, in order to lessen the community impact and expedite the construction schedule, work at several locations may be scheduled concurrently. Upon completion of the work, the street will be restored.
The work hours will be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday.
Construction activities will be located along the Expo Right-of-Way crossings listed below:
· Stewart Street (between Olympic Boulevard and Exposition Boulevard)
· 26th Street (between Olympic Boulevard and Michigan Avenue)
· 20th Street (between Olympic Boulevard and Colorado Avenue)
· 19th Street (between Olympic Boulevard and Colorado Avenue)
One travel lane in all directions will be maintained throughout this construction activity; with the exception of 19th Street. This street will be closed intermittently at night during construction; no other street or intersection closures are planned as a part of this construction activity.
Turns onto Stewart, 26th, 20th, and 19th Streets will be limited throughout the construction area during non-peak traffic hours.
Electronic message boards, directional signage and/or flagmen will be used to safely direct vehicles and pedestrians around the construction zone.
Parking restrictions will be strictly enforced at all times and signage with specific restrictions will be in place in all construction areas.
Water service interruptions will be required and will be noticed at least 72 hours in advance of the interruption.
Noise levels will be monitored to ensure work performed is within the necessary compliance levels.
